Have you ever taken the time to looked at your work routine with a magnifying glass? If so, were there some areas you knew you could improve upon but you just didn’t know how?
Many of us spend our workdays glued to our desk, responding to emails, calls and whatever else comes our way. Before we know it, it’s 5PM and our love ones are already missing us at the dinner table.
Many factors play into improving productivity and overanalyzing your schedule is one of them. Here at Nimble, our team practices the following to boost company morale and productivity on a daily basis. Feel free to steal these tips for your team. 😉
Stick To A Schedule
It can be easy to get sidetracked at work especially with social sites such as Twitter and Facebook just clicks away. Creating a schedule and sticking to it will allow you to plan your day or even week ahead of time.
Here are a few things our team does to stay on track throughout the day:
- Keep a spreadsheet to track daily activities
- Use a planner/calendar to schedule appointments
- Do the more time-consuming work first
- Turn off notifications (Slack, text messages, Facebook, Twitter, Nimble, etc.)
- Set reminders/followups
Maintain A Healthy Diet
Keep food in the office that encourages your team to eat healthy and increases blood flow to the brain.
Foods/Beverages we keep at our office:
- Nuts (Walnuts and Almonds)
- Smoked Salmon
- Dark Chocolate
- Green Tea
- Flax or Chia Seeds
- Water (Of course 😉
Use Music As A Booster
If you find that your mood is depleting throughout the day or you are finding it difficult to focus on a single task, then it may be time to plug in the headphones and listen to your favorite tunes. Music is known to increase productivity, improve your mood and spark creativity. Use it during your most repetitive tasks and the work will practically do itself. Here are some of the music genres we enjoy listening to in our office:
- Classical Music
- Nature Sounds
- Soft Jazz
- Instrumental Music
- Epic Music
- Music without lyrics
Take Breaks To Stay Sane
Daily stress can really take a toll on your work performance and without a proper break, burnout is right around the corner. Remembering to take breaks throughout your workday is just as important as eating the right foods and planning your day ahead of time. Rather than scrolling through your social feed for 15-20mins, try doing the following:
- Take a walk/jog
- Socialize with your team members (who aren’t busy)
- Step outside and focus on your breathing
- Step outside just to get fresh air
- Take a coffee break
- Play a quiet solo game such as crossword puzzles, Solitaire, etc
- Text or email your loved ones to find out how their day is going
Once you’ve found your perfect combination of productivity boosters practice them daily. You’ll see a difference in your mood and work performance in no time! Have any productivity boosters you’d like to share with us? We’d love to hear them. Feel free to leave a comment below.
