3 Nimble Features the Smart Contacts App Can Do, Too!

If you are a current user of Nimble, you may already know that our Nimble Smart Contacts App enables you to bring Nimble with you anywhere you work on the web – social networks, your inbox, and anywhere else you can highlight a name or hover over a hyperlinked social profile or email address. Haven’t installed it yet? Download it for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or the Edge browser here: Nimble.com/widget.

Using our handy browser widget brings the full functionality of a Nimble contact record anywhere in your workflow! However, some of its functions may be located in different places than they would when you are viewing your contact’s record within Nimble itself. Check out the following tips to help you get the most out of the Smart Contacts App in your workflow:

Set Stay in Touch Reminders & Update with Log Touch

Inside Nimble, the Stay in Touch reminder appears next to your contact’s name, alongside the star icon that shows whether a contact has been marked Important. This feature provides a visual reminder of whether you are reaching out to your contacts as often as you’d like.

While the star icon to mark a contact important still appears next to your contacts’ names in our browser widget, the Stay in Touch feature is shown a little further down, next to the “Last Contacted” date. Simply click on the clock icon to select the time interval you wish to periodically reach out to your contact within, and the reminder will be automatically set!

Just like in your main Nimble account, the Stay in Touch feature updates automatically if you’ve been in touch with a contact via email or Twitter. To update this reminder manually (say you met with the contact over a cup of coffee), you’ll need to use the “Log Touch” feature, located here:

Edit & View Custom Field Data

One of the best ways to make Nimble your own is to set up custom fields in your account that are relevant to your business needs. You can set these up in your Settings >> Data Fields page in your main Nimble account. For the steps to do so, check out our Custom Data Fields tutorial.

After your custom fields have been set up, you can edit and view your custom data while using the Smart Contacts App! To begin, “Edit” your contact, and click the three lines that appear next to “Contact Info”. You’ll see a menu of any custom tabs you have created that house your custom fields, and you will be able to edit them.

Once you have made the desired changes, select the “Save” button, and visit the “Contact Info” section to see your work. Click on those three lines next to “Contact Info” one more time, and you’ll be able to select that same custom tab and view the data you just entered!

Any changes you make while using our browser widget will also be immediately saved within Nimble itself.

Introduce a Contact to a Colleague

Nimble enables you to share information about your contacts with others via email, using the “Share” function on the Smart Summary we build with relevant information from your contacts’ social profile data:

You may also do this if you are elsewhere on the web using the Smart Contacts App! Simply select the three vertical dots where you would normally choose to edit your contact, and select the “Share Contact” option instead. This does currently take you to Nimble itself to send the email, however, it opens in a new tab that you can close when you’re finished to resume your workflow.

Try these useful features out for yourself, the next time you launch the Smart Contacts App on a web page!
